From Your Annual Fund Chair
Dear Friends,
As
Santa Barbara residents and arts patrons, we all share the privilege of
enjoying the Lobero Theatre. It is certainly a privilege for me to chair
the 2007-2008 Annual Fund Campaign on your behalf.
The Lobero has long been an integral part of Santa Barbara culture and has played an important role in defining what is special about our community. It has not always been easy to play such a significant part in bringing talent to the stage.
Over a century ago, José Lobero declared bankruptcy due, in large part, to his generosity to his beloved theatre. In the 130 years since he founded the Lobero and set an example with his commitment to the arts, the theatre has been through both good and bad times. Through it all, the Lobero has remained true to its founder’s vision—to bring world-class live performances to this beautiful intimate venue, to be enjoyed by all members of the community.
We are now most fortunate to be on a sound foundation for this year’s appeal. Today, the Lobero is building on more than a century’s tradition with a renewed sense of mission.
We would like to sustain our past success, and we would also like to be more adventurous in underwriting and supporting performances that appeal to you. We only can be successful in either role with your commitment.
Please help keep Jose Lobero’s dream alive by considering a donation to the Lobero Theatre Foundation in this important year.
Thank you so much for your consideration.
Best Wishes,
Bill Loomis, Chair
